My artistic investigations are often informed by my fervent love of language, to which this project explored my creative interest in a grammatical construct known as malapropism.

Malaprops refer to the mistaken use of a word in place of a similar sounding one, often with an unintentionally amusing effect. After speaking with friends and family about this hilarious feature of language, my interest was transformed into an idea. Every person I spoke with could point to a term of phrase they had misplaced and a humorous story almost always accompanied. So, with the amusing part of these stories coming from the product of a word in its wrong place, I wanted to do the same visually, approaching malaprops photographically and realizing these playful scenes which transpose in one's head when a malaprop is used.
